club d’elf returns to nyc

greetings and salutations,

we interrupt your regularly scheduled summer activities to announce that the hyper-dimensional jalopy that is club d’elf will be returning to the big apple this week, and then back to the 617, with some studio tracking in between. we welcome back the king of beaver himself, erik kerr, for these shows, as well as brahim fribgane and a host of other fine folk. so what we’re saying is if you’re in the 212 and/or 617 we will be making with the crazy, serpentine trance funk for your listening and dancing pleasure. chilled beverages will be served. nice.

PERHAPSODY

there is a very nice review of our new live cd Perhapsody on transformonline, written by ben taylor, who the astute reader will recognize as the same guy who reviewed Now I Understand so favorably last fall. and ok, so he is a former bass student of mine, he’s still got his own opinions and doesn’t tread the company line. see for yourself: http://www.transformonline.com/music/reviews/006460.php. and if you haven’t already why not pick up a copy or several? you can order it directly from kufala here: http://www.kufala.com/artists/show.php?catnum=190.

MISC

*Manos*

if you’re like us and into bad, bad movies you may enjoy this, as it involves one of the absolutely mind-meltingly bad movies of all time: Manos, The Hands of Fate. “manos” meaning, of course, “hand”, so it’s Hand, The Hand of Fate, which is nice. ohmygod, is there a better character than torgo in bad cinema? we don’t think so. um, check it: http://hkfilmnews.blogspot.com/2007/07/liner-notes-for-hkcfns-manos-eegah-and.html.

*Micro on sintir*

got a new vid up on youtube, of yours truly playing the sintir backstage at the ouro preto jazz festival in brazil back in 2000, shot by dana colley when orchestra morphine was in town performing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aA2oU0K0_X8

*RIP Mr. Butch*

we were saddened to learn of the passing of one of boston’s icons, mr butch, the self-proclaimed king of kenmore square. someone gave him a vespa, which may not have been the most well-informed decision…sorry to see you go, butch.http://bostonist.com/2007/07/12/boston_has_lost.php

*Other passings*

long-time d’elf friend rich ehrman said goodbye to his mother lillian recently as she set sail for shores on the other side. we send our love and sympathy to him and his family at this difficult time.

thanks for your support of d’elf, and we hope to see you at a show. we’re all in this together.

peace.
